Total Surrender

I cannot believe that it has been over a year since I have written a blog. I have thought about writing numerous times. I have even scheduled times to write. Yet, I always seemed to allow other things. Was it my fear that stopped me yet again? Quite possibly.

I do not think that was it. I believe that I was not ready to leave the familiar. My mindset was not where it should have been.

So, what is different now? Absolutely nothing. Well, that is not necessarily true. I am more determined.

While reading the word this morning, I read in the book of Deuteronomy. It was where the Israelites just had created the golden calf because I believe that the Israelites thought God was taking too long. They went to another so called god. That did not make the Lord happy at all. He had Moses destroy it. After God gave Moses the Ten Commandments the second time God said this to them.

And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require
from you, but to fear [and worship] the Lord your God
[with awe-filled reverence and profound respect], to walk
[that is, to live each and every day] in all His ways and to
love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all of your
heart and with all of your soul [your choices, your thoughts,
your whole being], and to keep the commandments of the
Lord and His statues which I am commanding you today for
your good?
                                        Deuteronomy 10:12-13 Amplified

I had to stop on those verses. What does it mean to fear the Lord [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect]? Think about it for a moment.

God wants us to live in holy fear—the one that comes from a mature knowledge of His holiness and a respect for His right to lovingly rule our lives. It is that kind of fear that is the best motive for holy living—and the most convinced way to the blessings God longs to shower us with. That kind of fear comes not from judgement, but from a surrendered heart.

Then it goes on to say that we are to serve the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul [your choices, your thoughts, your whole being]. OUCH! I know that I don’t do that every day.

In order to become a mighty warrior for God (or a Christian Samurai), one needs to live out of a mature knowledge of His holiness and respect for His right to lovingly rule our lives. In addition to choosing everyday to serve Him with all of your heart and with all of your soul. That also includes our choices and our thoughts. Which means our mindset. To me, that also means to have the mind of Christ.

I invite you to join me on this journey of what it means to have the mind of Christ and becoming a mighty warrior for Him.
